How to Style a Coffee Table Like a Designer
There's a formula behind those effortless-looking coffee table styling shots — here's how to recreate it in five minutes.
A well-styled coffee table follows a surprisingly consistent formula: one large object, one stack, one small organic element, and negative space around all three. That's it.
The large object
This is usually a tray or a single sculptural vase — something with enough visual weight to serve as an anchor point for your eye to land on first.
The stack and the organic element
A stack of two or three linen-bound books adds height and structure. Then, one organic element — a single stem, a piece of dried pampas, a small bowl of stone spheres — keeps the whole arrangement from feeling too rigid.
Resist the urge to fill every inch. The empty space around your styling is doing just as much work as the objects themselves.
